ALTRINCHAM made it three wins and a draw from their last four games with a deserved win over sixth-placed Ebbsfleet United on Saturday.

The visitors, formerly known as Gravesend and Northfleet, won the FA Trophy last season and were Alty’s bogey team, having won five and drawn one of the clubs’ last six meetings.

Alty scored both their goals in the first half.

Their first, in the 27th minute, was a superbly struck 20-yard freekick by Colin Little, after his fellow-striker, Chris Senior, had been fouled.

Senior made it 2-0 in the final minute of the first half when he was put free by Mark McGregor and did well to score from the right of the goal.

The Fleet’s manager Liam Daish was sent off at half-time after an incident in the tunnel, which spared him watching as his side laboured to get back into the game.

They enjoyed plenty of the ball but were unable to make a breakthrough against an Alty defence which has conceded only one goal in its last four matches.

Alty centre-back Greg Young won the man of the match award for the second successive game.
