Bowdon’s seconds develop a winning habit

10/10/2008

THE BOWDON juggernaut continued to roll at the weekend as the second XV swept aside Didsbury Toc H to register their fourth win in a row.

The Clay Lane outfit thumped the visitors 56-0 to maintain their unbeaten start to the season and open up a commanding three-point cushion over nearest rivals Sandbach at the top of Miller Homes Division Four South.

The game was all but over by half-time as Bowdon’s impressive back-line ripped Toc H apart. Eddie Bredenhann, Woody Barlow, Rob Campbell and Freddie Bamma gave a masterclass in pure running rugby.

A much improved second half performance from Didsbury saw them stem the tide and stop the rot.

However, Bowdon finished the game with a flourish with Mike Jackson, Ralph McCurry, Paul Moseley and Barlow all touching down.

Meanwhile, Bowdon’s third XV survived a tough trip to Merseyside as they completed a successful second-half comeback to defeat Wallasey 19-7.

With Bowdon 7-0 down at half-time, flanker Andy Rink scored two second half tries to seal a crucial victory.
