Pair are bowled over by win

THE Sale and District League Eric Dale Pairs was held as a one-day event and it was a long competition with more than the optimum 16 pairs in the field.
Last year’s Keith Mitchell and Dave Carruthers from Trinity were unable to defend their title due to sickness.
And most players from teams at the top of both divisions exited early resulting in a final between players from teams at the bottom end of both divisions.
In the semis Neil Thompson and Martin Hewitt [Roebuck] just beat Tony Garnett and Peter Burgess [Cringlewood ] and Steve Crowder and Tony Flanagan [Carrington Spur] did the same to Ken Meehan and Peter Dodds [South-West Manchester].
In the final Neil Thompson and Martin Hewitt ran out winners to take the trophy back to the Roebuck.
As the league season eases past the halfway, Levenshulme retain top spot in Div.1 with their fourth 200 plus score.
Unbeaten Fallowfield had a bye but retain second position whilst Cringlewood A almost had a full house, and move back into third spot.
Chorlton have suffered a depleted team pool so far but now have two more names registered, which should ease their problems.
Newly promoted Trinity continue to justify promotion and move into fifth place.
Home advantage seems to have paid off in Div.2 where Brooklands stay top after a hard battle with Cringlewood B who move into second place after Pickering collapsed at Longsight.
South West Manchester B recorded a 200 score, but League newcomers Carrington Spur made the biggest impact this week moving up three places in the table.
