South West pair win charity game

DARTS: SOUTH West Manchester CC duo Tony Grinell and Anthony Latham won the Manchester Log End League’s Ted Hewitt charity pairs competition at their club.
The Stretford pair will now represent the league in the Manchester Log End Federation event in July.
The dynamic duo only lost one leg, in the quarter final, to Mike Nolan and Alan Kennedy (Albert Withington), and went on to beat Steve and Alan Hargreaves (St Crispins) 2-0 in the semis and reigning champions John Glover snr and Brendan Maher (Green End) in the final 3-0. The runners up had to play homesters Geoff Goodwin and Harold Rimmington and won 2-nil. But Brendan pulled off three wonder darts in the semi while playing Peter Brittion and Graham Turner, and the score at 1-1, d10, d7, and centre to win 2-1.
The final was tough, but the class of Tony Grinell and Andy Latham blew them away. Local players are gearing up for the South Manchester open on June 15. Those already playing include Brinnington Open winner and Lancashire player David Yates, plus other Stockport players.
The league are also still looking for teams for the Monday and Thursday league, especially from the northern area of South Manchester and Trafford.
The Wednesday Premier Darts Summer 501 Darts League, which starts on June 25, is looking for teams to join.
