Brooklands set the pace in bowls league

2/ 5/2008

THE Lloyds Hotel are the pacesetters in the Goodies Manchester Premier League after enjoying a 100 per cent start to the new season after four games.

Lloyds crushed big local rivals and frequent champions Budenbergs 12-4 to take their points tally to 48 - 8.5 clear of their nearest rivals Garrswood Hall who are the new British champions.

Matt Gilmore was the main big hitter for Lloyds hammering Geoff Telford 21-8 and Chris MacDonald also enjoyed a big 21-12 win over Glynn Cookson.

Buds have slipped to sixth place some 15 points behind Lloyds.

Buds top man was Grant Soller with a 21-11 win over Dave Phillips.

South Manchester RBL went down 10-4.5 to St Josephs.

Sale Excel had a great away win by 12-4 at Pierpoint and Bryant with Dave Wells being their top scorer with a 21-6 success.

Fallowfield continued their bright start in division one of the Sale and District League walloping newly promoted Trinity by 64 chalks and the other promoted team Roebuck are also finding it tough going in the top flight as a 58-chalk defeat at reigning champions Cringlewood A saw them drop into the basement position.

A local derby saw Bowling Green push Chorlton into the bottom two with a comfortable win.

In division two Brooklands continue to set the pace as they kept up their 100 per cent record but they had to work hard for a 20-chalk success at bottom club Carrington Spur whose form improves week on week.

Pickering are the only other unbeaten team as they cruised to a comfortable win over Cringlewood B.

South West B lost out for the first time this season as lowly Partington were emphatic winners by 55 chalks.
