It's time to tee off in Trafford

TRAFFORD is one of very few local authorities able to boast having two excellent municipal courses for local people and visitors to enjoy whatever their abilities.
Altrincham golf professional Scott Partington is delighted with the progress at both the Altrincham and Willam Wroe (Flixton) courses in recent years.
Scott said: "We have seen Altrincham GC improve beyond recognition in the last three years and are looking to start a similar trend over at William Wroe GC.
"We have carried out some extensive winter works installing new tees, lengthening some holes, extensive planting, and a considerable amount of drainage work, generally upgrading the whole golf course.
"With the current demand for reducing the time it takes to play a round we feel that there will be a big market for William Wroe as you can play 18 holes in less than three hours.
"Golfers also benefit from the fact that we never use temporary greens so they get to play the full course even in the winter months.
"We have formed a strong partnership with the golf clubs at each of our courses, so much so that we can now offer golf club membership for just £50 per year (special introductory offer).
"For the more health conscious golfer we are offering a limited number of inclusive packages which will allow use of our fitness suites at the leisure centres.
"With junior organisers now in place we also hope to revive the junior sections at each golf course which have thrived in the past.
"We have had a mini refit in the shop at Altrincham and will be offering a full custom fit option for golfers wanting to upgrade their equipment or simply want to adjust their current kit to their own specification in the newly refurbished fitting centre."
