A FED-up mum says she has become a ‘bag of nerves’ due to a series of yob attacks on her property.
Lynn Wall claims she is one of several residents living on the Peel Estate suffering at the hands of unruly youths, who wreck their fences and their cars.
She said matters came to a head on the night of the evening of Friday, May 2, when the troublemakers started hurling glass bottles at her car and tore down the concrete barrier of her neighbours’ garden.
The 46-year-old said: "I’m a bag of nerves because of what is going on and my 11-year-old son is also very nervous.
"I can hear them regularly shouting and carrying on.
"My fence was also kicked down earlier this year and I don’t feel there’s any point of replacing it because they’ll just come back again.
"And there are two big dents in my car where they threw bottles at it.
"Last summer, they tried to fight my partner when he went to confront them."
"I feel the problems are getting worse."
Michelle Carber, 47, is the next door neighbour whose fence was attacked and says this was the latest in a long line of incidents.
"I bought my son a car for his 21st birthday and that was stolen from our driveway last year," she said.
"We called the police but in the end we went to look for it ourselves and found it in Woodhouse Park. It was stolen again not long after.
"These problems have been going on for two or three years and I think part of the problem is that they use a path coming from Peel Hall towards Woodhouse Park, often using it to drink.
"I’ve had a few incidents of damage, including the most recent, but we have been able to patch it up. Lynn’s garden now just faces on to the street."
Police say they are aware of a ‘small group’ of youths causing problems on Peel Estate.
Inspector Adrian Hopkins, from the Wythenshawe neighbourhood policing team, said:
"We are committed to tackling this problem and have put extra patrols in place to try and deter anti-social behaviour and to reassure residents.
"I want to make it absolutely clear we are keeping very close tabs on any problems with young people reported to us by local residents and are working closely with our partner agencies to do what we can to combat them.
"I would appeal to any residents that have any concerns to contact the neighbourhood policing team on 0161 856 4883."
