Winning wishes

SALE Waterside Library held a special Christmas event on Wednesday – a prize giving ceremony for winners of the children’s wishtags competition.
Wishtags are like gift tags on which children write wishes. There were two categories of prize – one for the best design and one for the best wish.
According to librarian Roy Milne, the competition has been very popular this year, and the wishes have varied widely. “Some children say ‘I wish for all the children in the world to have clean water’ and some say I wish for an X-Box for Christmas’,” he said.
Other events at Trafford libraries include the Panto Company’s production of Aladdin on Friday, December 21 at Old Trafford Library, and a kids’ cinema with free refreshments at Altrincham Library on Thursday, December 20.
A Christmas concert hosted by Trafford Libraries will take place at Flixton House on Thursday, December 20 at 7.30pm, performed by the Coupland Brass Quintet.
Afternoon tea with mince pies, sherry and carols will be offered by members of Our Lady of the Rosary Church choir at Davyhulme Library on Monday, December 17, and craft sessions are running at Stretford Library on Monday December, 17 and at Hale Library the following day.
Finally, Father Christmas will be keeping busy with visits to Coppice Avenue Library on Tuesday, 18 December at 4pm, Stretford Library on Tuesday, 18 at 2.15pm and Urmston Library on Wednesday, 19 at 2.30pm.
