Jobs saved as Buckeys rescued

18/ 7/2008

MORE that 100 jobs have been rescued at a long-standing Stockport printing company.

Buckleys Print & Packaging of Bredbury went into administration last month and has now been bought by Wirral-based Tipografic Print Solutions.

The administration was the second time in less than 12 months that the company had run into trouble.

Originally called Buckley and Bland the company, a specialist label printer, was founded 125 years ago.

It was initially rescued by a management buyout last October before being again placed into administration in June.

The company, which supplied major firms including food giant Heinz, had amassed significant liabilities as a result of a lack of investment.

Joint administrator Simon Plant, from turnaround firm SFP : said: "Buckleys had a reliable trading model which meant the business and assets were attractive to third parties. We are delighted to have achieved such a swift sale, which will result in an appropriate level of investment in the business and the safeguarding of a significant number of jobs."
