Quest to form leadership body

THE search has begun for Greater Manchester's top talent to form a Business Leadership Council to help shape the region's economic future.

It is being established by the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities following consultation with the private sector.

AGMA chairman Lord Peter Smith said he hoped the council would be established by the end of the summer.

He added: "It is an opportunity for people with the necessary expertise and skills to play a very full part in the continued growth and development of the Greater Manchester economy."

David McKeith, president of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, said: "It's a real chance for business to inform our politicians about what needs to be done, and what the priorities are for wealth and job creation.

"This will put business needs at the heart of decision-making.

"We have some of the best business brains working here and their insight will be a massive benefit to us all."
