Style Extra: Vintage fashion trend talk

FASHION'S going back to the future this season, with a time-travelling trip through the generations.

From fabulous forties frocks to 1970s-style kaftans and prints, all things vintage are back in vogue. The key to the look - charity shop chic.

But you don't have to trawl through endless second-hand shops to get it right. The high street has done the hard work for you, with all the major chains showcasing their own take on old trends.

We took a tour round the new Miss Selfridge at the Trafford Centre to get their top tips on the key vintage looks this winter.

Take a look at our video (right) to see how to put each trend together...

:: GOTHIC VICTORIAN GLAM

Black and purple are the key to this season's modern take on Victoriana, with smouldering shades for dresses, coats and shoes.

The Little Black Dress has even had the gothic treatment, with lace details and plenty of black beading.

:: FABULOUS FORTIES

Flirty little tea dresses, trench coats, tulip skirts and flowery prints are the key to getting this look just right.

Take inspiration from the hit film La Vie on Rose for some post-war chic.

:: 1970S ROCK CHICK

An updated version of the Boho trend that Sienna Miller made her own. Think Rolling Stones style for jeans, kaftans, gilets and battered leather bags.

:: ROCKABILLY

A modern twist on old Americana, with checked shirts, wide leg jeans and leather accessories.
