Avon's limited edition eye palette is a real beauty bargain
Style on a shoestring: Budget beauty
Helen Tither29/10/2008
WITH more of us feeling the pinch, something has got to give. But what would you cut back on?
According to a recent survey, women would rather eat less than go without their favourite beauty products. One in three said they would rather go without groceries than their favourite lippy, with three-quarters saying cosmetics were "everyday essentials".
But, even if you can't give up your make-up habit, you could still make savings with some savvy shopping. To help out, here's our guide to top new beauty treats for under a tenner...
Face
Shoestring shoppers can forget those costly salon facials. Instead, stock up on some home spa treats, with the funky
Soap&Glory
range, available at Boots, being one of the best budget finds.
Founded by Marcia Kilgore, who set up successful high end spa line Bliss, it's designed to give top quality for rock bottom prices - and it works. Their new range, out this week, starts at £3.99 for
Off Your Face facial wipes. But the bestseller is set to be
Glow Job moisturiser, £7.99, which has tiny bronzer beads inside to leave skin glowing all day.
For some fab foundation, do a trolley dash to Tesco where make-up artist
Barbara Daly
has an amazing value-for-money range. Try the
Ultra Light Pressed Powder, £4.95 and the
Soufflé Blush, £4.50.
Eyes And Lips
The cheapest way to makeover your make-up bag - a few new eye colours. First stop,
Marks & Spencer, which has a whole
eye pallet
in their Outstanding Value range for just £2.50.
Plus, if you can't live without YSL's Touche Eclat but don't have £20 to spend, why not try
Marks' Dark Circle Concealer, a fraction of the cost at £9.50?
Natural beauty fans will love the
Body Shop's Mineral Eyes
shadows, at just £8, below, while the limited edition
Avon eye pallet, comes for just £8. Finish it off with a slick of mascara. Try
Rimmel's new
Sexy Curves, £7.99, or
Collection 2000's
Magi-Length
mascara for just £4.99.
Finally, for a killer pout,
Rimmel's Moisture Renew
lipstick, £5.49, far left , is a fraction of the cost of the likes of Dior but just as divine.
Nails
Set up your own pedicure parlour with
Scholl. Buff your feet with their
Dual Action Foot File, £4.69, and leave their
Intensive Night Treatment with Socks, £5.99, on to work.
Once your feet are looking fabulous, finish off your home pedicure with this gorgeous Rose Petal Red nail varnish from The Body Shop, £6 - as glam as your favourite Chanel but at a fraction of the price!
