Queen shops on Deansgate

19/ 6/2008

FASHION guru Mary Portas, 45, pulled in expert help from House of Fraser's menswear department for her popular BBC2 show Mary Queen of Shops.

Mary turned to the Deansgate store in her quest to transform the ailing fortunes of Chorlton-based gents outfitters H.T. Burt.

Owner Adrian Burt and staff from the family-owned shop spent a day at House of Fraser as Mary put them through their paces, using the store's menswear floor as an example of good retail practice that they could follow.

Jeff Johnson, House of Fraser general manager, says: "We always take a great deal of care to offer our customers the very best retail experience possible and whilst customer feedback is very positive, we are always trying to improve and our customers can look forward to further exciting changes in the autumn."

The programme will be screened on BBC 2 on Monday at 9pm.
