WHAT a great idea keeping the most prolific criminals under
constant surveillance (Metro News, December 8).
If it stops them committing crimes, no right-thinking person could
object.
These civil rights people are a menace. They are more concerned
with the criminals than their victims.

TIME has shown that leniency hasn't lowered crime rates. Alex Gask,
of Liberty, says filming criminals is not the way to reintegrate
them back into society.
If these people need filming, they are hardly trying to integrate.
Perhaps Liberty should look at the victims of mugging and robbery,
many of whom have had their LIBERTY taken away from them because
they are afraid to leave their homes. That's all supposing they
haven't finished up dead, of course!

ALEX Gask, of Liberty, should be more concerned about the
harassment these criminals cause to the law-abiding public

THOUSANDS of visitors flock to Manchester to enjoy the outdoor
Christmas markets, the lights and the fantastic outdoor ice skating
rink in Piccadilly Gardens. Even Cllr Pat Karney and his merry men
have been skating. What a sight that must have been!
We don't need flashing lights or lasers - we need our town hall

RICHARD Butt is close to the truth about mobile phones and their
use aboard aircraft. A Concorde pilot told me 18 years ago they
have no adverse effect!

AS a non-smoker myself I'm thoroughly sick and tired of the
self-righteous attitude to those who do smoke from both the health
service and the public. But how many thousands are maimed and
killed every year by drunks in their cars? How many fragile old
people have been savagely beaten and even killed either for fun or
looking for cash, by drug addicts?
Yet I've not heard of them being castigated by this baying
brigade.
The solution to smoking is obvious. Let those clubs and restaurants
who have a regular clientele of smokers clearly advertise
themselves as welcoming this section of the community.
