Frank is too glib about hospitals
15/12/2005
FRANK Manc is missing the point when he says that there is no
future for hospitals such as Altrincham General, namely that
Manchester hospitals such as Wythenshawe and MRI are for Manchester
residents.
It is one thing to be referred outside the area for specialist
treatment, it's quite another if it's due to closures.
I care nothing for party politics, but the proposed closure is a
disgrace and I, for one, am unprepared to go all the way to MRI for
a pathology test and I don't see why I should have to. It's a
disgrace.
Contrary to Frank Manc's opinion, getting to any hospital is
erratic, lengthy and tiring by public transport.
The journeys themselves can take most of your day before you start
adding the actual consultation or waiting time.
It is not a "tad inconvenient" as he suggested.
As Altrincham General is well used by the elderly, his lack of
consideration is not commendable.
It is easy to be glib when it's not him that will have the
problems. Not all change is good.
