Letters
Outraged by nameless letter
7/11/2008
I AM writing in response to the anonymous comments in last week’s paper in relation to the campaign against homeless housing. I found the comments outrageous, in particular the reference to the first steps the Nazis took in controlling the Gypsies and Jews in the 1930s.
You state that you do not know anything about this development, but the local residents do.
We are not NIMBYs or spreading propaganda, just VERY concerned residents of Jackson Court and its immediate vicinity
Please get its location correct – it Jackson Court, Flixton, not Davyhulme!
House prices do not come into it as Jackson Court is run by a housing association and the residents are tenants – so they are not bothered about house prices reducing – they don’t have mortgages.
The tone of the leaflet is not nasty or irresponsible and, for your information, the people are not homeless but already living in another MMHA property in Altrincham which will be sold at a very large profit for the charity!
As for your comments regarding us being militant and/or Christian when we feel like it, in my opinion ‘but for the grace of God go I’ does not apply to drug users and burglars who have made their own choices in life, just as responsible people have.
Do you realise that the weekly rent for an apartment at Bowfell Court will be about £120 and us as tax payers will be footing the bill – it’s equivalent to an £80,000 mortgage.
The safety of vulnerable residents is my paramount worry and as a parent of three children they must come first.
I will not hide behind anonymity!!!
