Barren roundabout to bloom

YOU carried a story some weeks ago about residents complaining about having their roundabout barked over instead of planted out, as has been done in past years, through shortfalls in council budgeting.
Councillors Brenda Houraghan and Ken Weston, who represent Broadheath, have been inundated with complaints from residents living in the area.
I hit on an idea to approach Duncan Battman of Battman & Sons, the nursery centre on Deansgate Lane in Timperley, to see if he could help have the roundabout planted with some small bushes and shrubs, which would not need too much maintenance. Although the nursery has closed after 112 years of trading, Duncan said he would see whether he had any items to accommodate the site.
After all the community has done to support Battmans over the years, he felt it would be great to give something to the community that they could enjoy for years to come.
Both myself and Cllr Houraghan are over the moon with this support and cannot thank Duncan and Battman’s enough for their work and donation to the community.
