Metro language usage slammed

19/ 9/2008

I READ your newspaper every week, it’s very informative and contains some good stories.

However, every week without fail, the big stories feature the word ‘slammed.’

In last week’s story – Council Blunders Could Cost Mum Her Degree – it’s the fifth word.

It has almost become a standing joke in our house to see how quickly your writers get the word ‘slammed’ into their column.

Please buy a dictionary or thesaurus or just think outside the box and choose from the abundance of words our beautiful language has to offer.

Editor: We will endeavour to think outside the box with regards to language usage in the future
