Labour does deserve credit

13/ 6/2008

I WRITE in relation to the article on May 31, ‘Council Appoints Executive Roles’,

In the article it stated that Councillor Jane Baugh suggested that the Tories should give more priority to sport, arts and library services in Trafford.

Apparently, at the AGM last week, the council did not even mention any of these in its list of executive roles.

Cllr Susan Williams’ response was rude and arrogant, and this philistine Tory council appears unaware of the importance of libraries, sports, arts and community organisations in the borough.

Cllr Williams’ statement in the article that Labour never gave value for money when in control of the council is not true. The previous council was responsible for building Waterside Arts Centre, a great asset to Sale, as well as the award winning Imperial War Museum. It also refurbished the town halls in Altrincham and Sale and initiated the Friends group, resulting in Walkden Gardens and Worthington Park achieving green flag status.
