I would have liked a Waitrose supermarket

I WANT the right to reply to the letter from Adam Williamson and all residents who have a hate campaign against Waitrose.

I am a resident of Hale Barns who is not happy with the Co-op.

I have tried to shop there over the 18-year period in which I have lived in Hale Barns, but most times I am disappointed.

I drink goats’ milk and eat goats’ butter and they do not stock either of these items. But that is not the only thing I find lacking.

It is a shame for the very few shops on the Square that do provide a service, e.g. the very good butchers on the other side along with the dry cleaners and chemist shop.

On the square side the Bakers, the newsagent and when they were open, the greengrocers.

But not the Co-op !

I am very sad that Waitrose has been rejected.

It is a very nice supermarket, certainly better that Tesco or Sainsbury, in its treatment of staff and customers.

It is certainly not a "giant, impersonal hypermarket" in my experience.

It will be a sad loss, but the saddest thing is that the Co-op believes it is satisfactory.
