Which post office is next?

IT'S ALL on the throw of the dice these days, when and where the next post office will be terminated from the face of the earth.
Even looking back to the magic years of the 1950s and ’60s, it was very rare to hear of a post office closing down, never mind a doctor or nurse being made redundant.
Anything is possible in this mad, crazy world of ours.
And it makes me wonder if the post office bureaucrats who are responsible for the hardship imposed on local communities by the closure of post offices have a few bats flying around loose in their belfry.
Or do they live on a separate planet to the rest of us?
Either way you look at it, thank goodness for small mercies. We still have an ally in Urmston’s General Post Office, on Higher Road, which has given ‘first class service’ to the public from day one.
