Lack of customer service
30/11/2007
I WONDER whether Trafford Council leader Susan Williams could spare a few minutes to apply her mind to something other than her political career prospects?
In September 2006, after discussing recycling with six neighbours, I drafted a letter to the council, taking their comments into account, and eventually sent a letter acceptable to them all. Having received no response, I sent a reminder, together with a copy of the original letter, on November 25, 2006. Having still received no response, I sent a further reminder, by recorded delivery, again with a copy of the original letter, on February 12, 2007.
On February 28, 2007, a lady from the waste management section left a message on my answering machine, referring to my letter and asking me to ring her. I did so the next day. I discussed the issues with her and asked for a written reply. I have still not received one, and, of course, the waste of cardboard, plastic bottles, etc. continues.
The containers for glass have gone but the signs remain, directing the faithful on pilgrimages to a non-existent recycling centre. Shortly before her phone call, I had received a pre-election leaflet from Trafford Conservatives.
It stated “...the Conservatives are dedicated to delivering the highest possible quality in local services” and “recycling has been a priority for the Conservative administration in Trafford.”

Where is the story in this article. "Council Leader gets going rate for the job" - so what?
Why knock Susan Williams, who has done much to clean up the mess left by the previous administration (readers may remember Trafford Council was branded as 'weak' under Labour) especially when there other local people appointed to the same post.
If anybody is to blame it's the Government - they have set the rate for the job, not Susan Williams.
I'm afraid the MEN/Metro is guilty of political bias against Ms Williams and for a paper the size of the MEN it just won't do. You should be ashamed!
