'50s-style law and order is key

16/ 5/2008

RECENTLY a group of youths were riding their bicycles on the sidewalk up Flixton Road towards Urmston Station, weaving their way through a blanket of pedestrians as if they were on an obstacle course.

When confronted by an elderly couple who asked them to rise their bicycles on the road, they were rewarded by insults and obscene hand gestures.

   i actually agree

society now is incredibly violant

now-a-days you walk down the street and watch everyone and expect the unexpected

if you hear shouting in the distance you try to avoid it

im 15 and of course i wasnt around in the 50's and 60's, however growing up the 90's (which still wasnt the best part of the 20th century really) i can even tell that the world has become more violant.

When i was growing up everyone got along, people said please, thank-you and excuse-me in the street

people would smile at you and be very polite

if teenagers were being too loud, all you had to do was walk up and say "please may you quieten down abit" and they would reply "oh sorry, yeah sure no problem"

but now you get a handful of abuse, verbal and physical.

Even when im on student leader duty at my school, if i tell students nicely to go outside because they're not supposed to be on the corridors, i get a mouthful of abuse.

Things need to change, its gone too far, too long have people lived in fear of the outside world, youth's have taken over and now they need to be shown whos boss
