Urinals: It was time for action

11/ 4/2008

IN RELATION to the trial of portable urinals in the vicinity of the Manchester United Stadia on match days, I read that local councillor Laurence Walsh urges the council to make an immediate u-turn on their use and sitings.

I am surprised, as it is not a council-only decision but of the Gorse Hill Partnership and Community Partnership, members of which are drawn from Man Utd,Trafford MBC, the police and three Gorse Hill representatives, two residents and a Gorse Hill councillor. This causes me great concern.

On match days my family and i have to contend with desperate, drunken men attempting to urinate at the side of our house. I first complained to Manchester United and Trafford council over two years ago. To date there has been no action taken in this area. I would GREATLY appreciate the appearance of portable urinals in my street as i'm heartily sick of confronting these people using my garden as a toilet. Of course the urinals are not attractive but neither is disinfecting and hosing down my pathway after every game at Old Trafford.
