THEATRE: Have Box Will Travel, Contact Theatre, Thursday

DYNAMIC poet, musician and DJ Charlie Dark brings his autobiographical one-man show to Contact Theatre on Thursday.
Have Box Will Travel is a unique rites-of-passage story which transports the audience from a tiny bedroom in South London to the world of the DJ in 80 beats and back again.
It boasts witty, sharp and frequently moving dialogue as Charlie chronicles his life and times – from the emergence of the definitive hip-hop culture he has lived and loved to the onset of fatherhood.
Focusing on his musical inspirations and growing up under the watchful eye of a Ghanaian mother, Charlie’s performance is delivered straight from the heart, recalling the ups and downs of a life in music.
Slick production from hip-hop theatre pioneer Benji Reid and classic grooves from icons like Public Enemy, Roy Ayres and John Coltrane make this show memorable.
