DANCE: Hofesh Shechter, The Lowry, Thurs and Fri

THE current hottest exponent of contemporary dance comes to The Lowry next Thursday and Friday, October 9 and 10 when Hofesh Shechter visits the north west.
He presents his two newest works: Uprising involves seven men bombarding the stage with furious energy in an explosive work set to a thrilling, pounding score, while for In Your Rooms, six women join the company and unstoppable rhythms drive a vision of society that is both scarily alienating and yet shockingly familiar.
Shechter, born in Jerusalem, moved to Tel Aviv to join the world-renowned Batsheva Dance Company.
He began drum and percussion studies there and continued later in Paris, subsequently beginning experimenting and developing his own music while taking part in various dance, theatre and body
percussion projects in Europe.
He has toured all over the world to critical acclaim, and is working on a new work to premiere at Sadler’s Wells Theatre next year.
