FESTIVAL: Mega Mela, Platt Fields Park, Fallowfield, Sat 26 and Sun 27 Jul

ALL the vibrant fun of South Asian culture is on offer for everyone at Platt Fields Park over the weekend with Manchester Mega Mela.

The colourful event takes place on Saturday and Sunday with all kinds of entertainment, sport, music, funfair and, of course, delicious food.

Some of the biggest names on the Asian music scene will be performing, including Hunterz, Raghav and Imran Khan, all of whom will be singing music from their latest albums.

Labh Janua and Manchester favourite Tariq Khan & Legacy will also be on the main stage, Mona Singh will perform her latest release Stronger and The Sona Family will thrill the crowds after their USA tour.

The Chai Serai Marquee will present a feast of South Asian performance, with an impressive line-up of international poets. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal will all be represented here.

There’s spectacular street theatre including dhol drumming and an Indian wedding brass band, and watch out for the entertaining displays of exciting physical sport Kabaddi.

Some of the most popular arts and crafts in South Asia will be available, with more than 50 trading stalls and a mouthwatering array of foods.
