Fancy dress is s-no joke

YOU are invited to a party. Hooray! It’s a fancy dress party. Boo!
I’ve just been to a fancy dress party and a lot of guests made a lot of effort. Faces painted. Big costumes bought from the internet and hired at great cost.
I’m essentially a very lazy and mean person. So I bought a white coverall suit from B&Q (well, actually I got my mother to buy it – never knock that pensioners’ discount) and a carrot. I went as a snowman.
I had to hold the carrot on my nose and then tell my dad’s favourite joke to underline the point that I was a snowman. "What did one snowman say to the other? Can you smell carrots?"
Bizarrely, another guest had bought the very same coverall suit at B&Q. But he dressed it up with nuclear warning symbols and went as some kind of nuclear decontaminator type chap. A bit more imagination than me.
And, to round it all off, my 15-year-old nephew ruined my whole ensemble. He ate my nose. Dagnabit!
